Donegal Bay Water Bus

No visit to Donegal is complete without a trip on Ireland’s largest waterbus. This spacious, fully equipped vessel offers daily 75 to 80 minute tours of Donegal Bay with its many islands and abundant wildlife. The Donegal Bay Waterbus has been bringing passangers on sight-seeing tours from Donegal Town since 2006.

The tour includes a full commentary on the history and geography of Donegal Bay by our experienced and fully trained crew, combined with a sprinkling of Irish humour with a sing-a-long music caberet on the return voyage, which insures that passengers are kept both informed and entertained during the voyage.

The boat hosts a full bar a purpose built, luxury passenger vessel, capable of comfortably carrying 165 passengers. Highlights on the tour include a close encounter with Seal Island and its 200 strong seal colony and unparalleled views of the Bluestack Mountains and the gorgeous Donegal coastline. Sailing times are usually morning, afternoon or evening and are dependant upon weather and the tides. Tickets can be bought from the ticket office which is a renovated cottage near the Tourist Office.

Live musical entertainment is provided on the homeward leg of each tour and there is even a dance floor for those who wish to ‘waltz on the water’. With easy access for all from the pier and plenty of parking on the quayside, this tour is ideal for old and young alike and is perfect for families, tour groups, and independent travellers.
